#SelfCareFeb Day 9: Get Moving!

Today’s challenge is pretty self explanatory, but exercise is key to practicing self care. It helps you de-stress, burn some calories, and keep your body healthy. There are a million ways to incorporate exercise into your daily life, but the key to making it a habit is to do activities that you enjoy.

Here are a few tips:

1. Focus on activities that you actually like: I really love playing tennis and going hiking. Since I like them, it doesn’t really feel like I’m exercising. I’m just having fun. On the other hand, if I do Pilates, it is absolute torture because I abhor it. I much prefer to do yoga. Don’t force yourself to join Crossfit or do “Insanity” or “Turbo Jam” just because it is trendy or the infomercial has convinced you that you will get great results! If you hate it, you won’t stick with it and you’ll be back to square one. Do what comes easiest to you. There are tons of apps and videos on Youtube to choose from when trying to find the exercises that work best for you.

2. Psyche yourself out: I really don’t like running.  However, if I take my dog to the park to play fetch, I’ll end up running after him (because he never gives the ball back to me!) so I’ll get some good cardio in that way. Or, if you have to clean the house, put on some good music and dance as you dust or do some lunges as you push the vacuum around.

Today’s challenge is shorter than usual because I want you to get off of your computer and get moving!

Comment Below: What is your favorite form of exercise? How do you plan on making exercise a habit?

  2. i agree with you if you don’t feel like working out is a job then you will be more likely to do it! I’m the opposite though I need a program so I know where the start and finish is hahaha and I like to see the before and after. Turbo jam was a little slow for me so I had to pick a program that suited me better. It has to come from inside the want to change your life to be healthy not the outside 🙂 great post
