Abundance is a tricky word. When you typically think of abundance, you associate it with finances and money. However, abundance can appear in many forms. For today’s Mindful Monday, we are focusing on how to recognize abundance when you see it and then learn how to accept it. As I’ve touched on before in other posts, the Law of Attraction is very real, and “like attracts like.” If you don’t accept abundance when it comes to you, the Universe will say, “Oh ok. You already have enough! No problem. We will send the abundance to someone else.” Be open to receiving and you’ll see more abundance flow your way. Here’s an example from my own life. It just happens to be a financial example, but I’ll give more examples of other ways of how abundance can show up at the end of the post.
I was walking my dog the other day along a long stretch of sidewalk. I rarely see anyone else walking along this path, and I primarily take that route because it is very serene. On one particular day, I was strolling along when I looked down and saw a perfectly crisp dollar bill stuck to the sidewalk. This dollar bill was so pristine that it looked like it had come fresh out of an ATM. It was early in the morning and I didn’t see anyone else around. I had taken that same path the day before, and the dollar wasn’t there. I took a look at the dollar bill, contemplated it for a moment, and then thought, “I’ll leave it there for someone who needs the money.” I continued on my way. I only got three steps away before I had the following thought flash through my mind: “Abundance just clearly presented itself to you and you are still convincing yourself that others are more deserving of it or need it more!”
Touché, Universe. Touché. The truth was that I really could use some money. I recently moved across the country, I had been having trouble finding work, and I was trying to think of creative ways that I could earn money. However, when money literally fell at my feet, I didn’t want to accept it because I felt that money had to show up another way, such as in the form of a job.
I backtracked, looked around to make sure that no hidden cameras were playing a prank on me and picked up the dollar. No lie, less that five minutes later, along the same path that I have walked daily for months, I looked down and saw this angel on the sidewalk. I had never noticed it until I picked up that dollar! Now if that is not synchronicity, I don’t know what is.

A helpful alternative of how to define abundance would be “having options.” If you really think about it, you typically always have at least one other option at your disposal. That means that you are always in a state of abundance – you just have to be open to acknowledging it! Here are examples of other ways that abundance can show up in your life:
- A friend calls you and offers their assistance on something.
- You are able to share your talents with someone else.
- Being able to work from home on a snowy day.
- Acknowledging the positive outcomes of losing a job.
